Ray Lumpp Dead At 91

Bouncer Chronicles is sad to report the death of former Olympian, New York Knicks basketball star and longtime director of the New York Athletic Club, Ray Lumpp. The native New Yorker was acquired by the Knicks on January 26, 1949, from the Indianapolis Jets and played in 214 games with them through 1953. Mr Lumpp was part of the Knicks team that lost to the Minneapolis Lakers in the 1951 and 1952 NBA Finals. He also played for the United States Olympic Basketball Team that went 8-0 en route to the gold medal in the London Olympics.

He was born on July 11, 1923 in Brooklyn. He attended New York University and was a World War II veteran.
