I decided to read through the notebooks of one of the graduate students in my lab group. It proved to be a good decision. Notes of what not to do, recipes and equations were all gleaned and carefully recorded in my notebook for future reference.
I'm grateful I was able to understand what I did, his handwriting is awful!! I had to bug my boyfriend probably a dozen times over the course of half hour to see if he could decipher a word, term, phrase or sentence that I couldn't understand!
So, next time your kids ask you why it's important to learn to write legibly tell them that bad handwriting may have caused me to misunderstand something in his notebook and that could lead to a set back in finding a cure for a condition that effects half a million babies in the US alone, every year.
