Santorum was rooting for the "Descendants" because he though it was an anti-contraceptive film! While Rick Santorum wondered why the Oscars did not start with all rising and singing “God Bless America” followed by the “Star Spangled Banner,” America won again in the most critical arena: “the Free marketplace of Ideas.” Did not go any better from Santorum’s perspective from there as all the big Awards went the wrong way– a black woman, a Pakistani documentary, an Iranian film, a gay dying octogenarian and the biggest to the French acting out what America used to be. The Iron Lady could be deemed a saving grace, except in my several meetings with Lady Thatcher – she wanted to send NATO into Bosnia to save the Muslims and Catholics. Anyway, she had more balls than Santorum tries to project, but she also enjoyed a quantum evolutionary leap in brains – Of course Santorum also does not believe in evolution. However, the worst news for Santorum a day before another crucial Republican Primary election is that all those who won Sunday night at the Oscars represent people and ideas that have a voice in Michigan – one of the two Tuesday states voting. You say OK, the black woman, “The Help,” the Pakistani Doctor. “Saving Face” or even the Iranian filmmaker, “A Separation” or the gay senior citizen, “Beginners”, but not the French (for “the Artist”). Well, Detroit and Michigan were once part of the French holdings in North America. The biggest insult though may have been the return of Barron Sasha Cohen as a Gaddafi lookalike dictator. Rick Santorum thinks the US should not have helped in ousting Colonel Gaddafi and does not believe that Arabs/Muslims deserve democracy or freedom. Of course, in his philosophy, Santorum has similar feelings about most Americans not being entitled to freedom over their bodies or theology; however he has to convince us to vote for him first before he can start depriving us of our freedoms and choice.
