The movie is called ‘RoboCop’ but it should really be called ‘No Please Stop.’ This is PREnetwork’s review of ‘RoboCop.’
This remake of the classic 1987 ‘RoboCop’ movie, this is not a fourth installment to the franchise. This is a reboot/remake of the original ‘RoboCop’ and does no justice the original. Coming down from an R rating to a PG-13 this movie not only lacks depth and character but it also went way over budget. The budget was set at $60 million and ballooned to a $120 million budget. Let’s put all facts aside right now and talk about the actual movie.
Robocop takes place in the not so distant future, with see through phones and a program that can track down your location at any moment of any day. So why do they even need ‘RoboCop’ if this technology already exists? Why can’t they just put this program into a smart phone or tablet device? All of that aside ‘Robocop’ (played by Joel Kinnaman) was a normal police officer trying to figure out if two other police officers were working for the bad guy. He had real name, which was Alex and a wife in the son. Then “something happens” he becomes Robocop and we see a lot of gunfights and that’s about it. The premise of this movie was a big corporation wanted to put robots on the street inset of real men in uniform.
But Americans are against androids, so the scientists have to invent a robot with feelings. They save Alex by making him Robocop and everybody loves him. Then the scientists turn evil, they make him more robot then human. The plot twists now he suffers inter and an outer dilemma. Then there are a lot of gunfights, which aren’t even that interesting. In the end this movie could’ve been much better, but poor planning, plane characters, and little effort was brought to the table. If this movie does the sequel I really hope it’s better than this.
