Romania in Romania!

ÉCU- The European Independent Film Festival is very excited to bring a selection of it’s award winning films from the past six years to Romania. The ÉCU Retrospective will be taking place between October 17th-22nd in Bucharest.
ÉCU and Romania have a long history which began in 2006 with the director Catalin Leescu’s film being selected for the competition, and this was later followed by the film Tarantyno which won the award Best Actor at ÉCU 2010. The independent spirit in those films embodies what the ÉCU festival is all about; which is why Romania is the perfect place to have our first-ever retrospective.
It’s an honor to have Broken Clouds screen in Romania as a part of the ÉCU Retrospective! It’s very encouraging to have the film embraced on the other side of the Atlantic. Yuri Alves, director of “Broken Clouds”, winner of Best Non-European Independent Dramatic Short at ÉCU 2011.
It means a lot to screen my film in Romania. Films are made to be shown and I think “Anonymous” is a great example of talented young people who love films and making films. Alvaro Ramos, actor from “Anonymous”, winner of best director and editing at ÉCU 2007
I am very proud and honored and so happy that my film has a life that continues through your hands and the work of ÉCU. Caroline Sascha Cogez, director of “Emmalou”, winner of Best Actress award at ÉCU 2009
The ÉCU Film Festival has provided a wonderful platform to exhibit films to audiences that may otherwise not be able to see some of the great independent cinema being produced worldwide right now- I am grateful to be part of this multicultural artistic experience, and looking forward to discovering the film scene in a city I have always wanted to see. James McAleer, director of Invertebrate, winner of Best Experimental at ÉCU 2011.
I’m thrilled to be able take such a great slate of films to Romania. We have seen many, many great films here at ÉCU. over the years that is so great to think that we are going to see all of the award-winning films getting a screening in one place during a single week. What a great buzz for the audience, for ÉCU. and most importantly the filmmakers who get to share their films with a brand new audience. Scott Hillier, ÉCU President
