He was the first member to join the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy's first mate, and to date, is considered the largest threat and most dangerous member in the crew after Luffy. His fame as a master swordsman and his great strength, along with the actions of his captain, sometimes led other people to believe he was the true captain of the crew earlier on.
Personal Traits:
Zoro likes to sleep. He even manages to sleep through blizzards and bad weather, often waking up when everything's over and yawning curiously at everyone. An even funnier trait of his is his unnatural ability to get lost even in small spaces. Despite this, he is often the first to sense an enemy or danger, and the first to react. He is often displayed being well aware of dangerous situations and people around him. Zoro wasn't always a pirate, nor did he ever really aspire to be one. He started out as a Pirate Hunter, collecting bounties as a way of living as he trained. While the Captain likes to eat, Zoro loves drinking and can consume mass quantities of ale and grog without becoming intoxicated. Sanji often calls him "Marimo" because his head resembles a seaweed ball of the same name. He told Luffy right from the start that if he ever got in his way of realizing his dream he'd kill him. Luffy, of course, just laughed and said it was fitting that the "best" pirate would have the "best" swordsman in his crew. Unlike Luffy and most of the other Straw Hat pirates, Zoro has been known to kill his opponents if he has to, though never in cold blood. Zoro has a stern, serious and distanced personality, but unlike Robin he often reacts in a goofy and exaggerated comic style due to his gruff, impatient attitude. His calendar goes straight from March 31st to April 2nd; no one fools Roronoa Zoro.
Even as a child, Zoro was strong enough to defeat most adults, but could not defeat Kuina, the Dojo master's daughter, but later she died from a fatal fall down on the stairs of their dojo (to get a sharpening stone for her sword, something she wouldn’t have needed if she and Zoro had not fought with real swords). Zoro asked his sensei, Koshiro, for Kuina’s sword, Wado Ichimonji, and began working to develop his signature Santoryu, holding his own two swords in each hand, and Kuina's clenched between his teeth. Eventually, Zoro learned of Dracule "Hawk-Eye" Mihawk, who currently holds the title of the Greatest Swordsman in the world. He set off to sea, searching for him in order to challenge him to a duel. However, he lost his way, and could not find his way back home. In order to survive on his own, he took on bounties to pay for living expenses. He quickly built a famous reputation for himself as a "Pirate Hunter" in East Blue and even in Grand Line as Baroque Works had heard about him. Because of his reputation as a bounty hunter, Zoro was offered a position as a numbered agent within the Baroque Works. He replied with that he would accept only on the condition that he would lead the organization (which they refused). He then killed Mr. 7, the agent who offered him the position, to defend himself. He is one of the top three fighters in the crew alongside Luffy and Sanji, and his dream is to become the greatest swordsman in the world. Zoro was regarded as one of "The Eleven Supernovas", the eleven rookie pirates with bounties over 100,000,000 to have reached the Red Line before the two year time skip, with a current bounty of 120,000,000.
It was stated by Luffy that Zoro possesses Haki, when discussing it in the context of members of his crew who could fight Caesar Clown, a Logia user. Because Law was referring to the ability to coat themselves in armor it confirms Zoro as a Busoshoku Haki user. However, Zoro did not actively display any of these abilities until the Punk Hazard Arc when he cut Monet on the cheek using Busoshoku Haki. Although it is unknown if he can use it, Zoro does know about Haoshoku Haki, something he (along with the rest of the crew) had not shown any knowledge of during the first half of the series. But he, along with Sanji, has commented on Luffy's ability to passively knock out half of Hody's men, stating that if Luffy could not at least do that much then he would have had to have stepped down from being captain. It was also hinted at that both he and Sanji possess Kenbunshoku Haki when asked by Luffy if the pair could sense a "wild animal" in the Ryugu Palace, which they both answered that they could.
If you spell Roronoa Zoro wrong on Google it doesn't say, "Did you mean Roronoa Zoro?" It simply replies, "Run while you still have the chance." hahaha!----just kidding. ^_^
