What they did last time:
The Wallabies weren’t terrible in a 26-23 defeat to Ireland, but a loss is a loss. England worked harder than expected in a 28-9 win over Samoa at Twickers.
Last time they played each other:
England playmaker Owen Farrell scored 15 points in a 20-13 win at Twickenham last year. The Wallabies didn’t score in the second half.
What you need to know:
The Wallabies slipped to fifth on the World Rugby rankings and if they don’t win this weekend, it will be the side’s worst Spring Tour since 2005. Not a good start for coach, Michael Cheika, who has just four games next year (New Zealand twice, South Africa and Argentina) before the World Cup.
Tevita Kuridrani, who has been one of Australia’s best over the past year, is out with an ankle injury he picked up last weekend. The Wallabies also walked away from Aviva Stadium with a hefty bill hanging over their heads after damaging a dressing room.
Cheika has a huge selection decision, with Will Genia, Quade Cooper and Kurtley Beale all making a telling difference off the bench against Ireland. Who to start?
England’s defeat of Samoa ended a horror five-match losing streak (four of them against the All Blacks) but it was anything but convincing. In wet conditions the English didn’t kick particularly well and didn’t score a point in the last half hour.
Debutant 21-year-old fly-half George Ford lived up to the hype and will start again in the number 10 jersey. Owen Farrell, who started at 12 against Samoa has been dropped in favour of Billy Twelvetrees.
Reason to watch:
Although fans desperately want wins, the Wallabies scored plenty of style points against Ireland. It was good to watch when they kept hold of the ball.
Reasons to turn away:
The Wallabies were hammered by Ireland at scrum-time last week and the English pack is just as fearsome.

“We’ve had the opportunity to play [England and Wales] on this tour and gauge where we are.
“We’ve had Michael Cheika [as coach] for four games and we’re very new into the way he wants us to play. The way we’ve improved has been a positive sign.”
These two will meet in the group stages at the World Cup next year and the Wallabies won’t beat England at Twickenham playing like England. They might as well keep the ball in hand and give it a red hot go.
