St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Karachi, is situated on Shahrah-e-Iraq, formerly known as Clarke Street, located near the Empress Market in Karachi, Pakistan. Built in 1845 this is 1st church of the province of Sindh. The style of its construction is Gothic. it can accommodate 1500 worshippers at a time. the centenary celebrations of this church took place in 1978. It is the biggest catholic church of Pakistan measuring 52 meters by 22 meters. This is one of the oldest catholic church in Pakistan having spectacular building. Most of the people are attracted toward this magnificent building due to its Gothic style of architecture. Infact its one of the precious jewels what the Pakistan has left behind as its heritage. To pay homage to this splendid building the Pakistan Post issued a new ticket bearing the picture of this church. Indeed it was an effort to preserve the cultural heritage of Pakistan.
