A salmonella outbreak in the US has sickened 53 people in nine states, the most affected being California where 31 cases have so far been detected. Ten people have been hospitalized but no deaths have been reported so far. The source of the outbreak is unknown, but most of the victims are reported to have eaten sushi containing raw tuna. Health officials are investigating the outbreak.
