I admire those people who keep on working even if they are already old. Whenever I walk in the streets, I never fail to notice those people working hard despite their age and capacity to work. I can even see some who are obviously ill and not in the capacity to work because they are handicapped, but they strive to work in order to survive and support the needs of their families. I really admire them, so much!
While there are those who are still young and capable but chose to go around and beg for money. I pity them. And yes, just the sight of them roaming around the streets and knocking on windows of vehicles, is very irritating. They are still capable but they chose to just beg.
It makes my heart beat faster whenever I see a lolo or a lola working. I wanted so much to lend a hand. Believe it or not, sometimes, tears start to build up in my eyes because of being overwhelmed with their efforts and dedication. As a way to help some of them, I tend to buy from those lolo's and lola's who sell on the market or sidewalk. At least, in that small way I could help them. I also give them my smile. And a smile from them, is really touching and relieving.
Maybe it is part of the society that we live in. But I hope that day comes when old people no longer have to work because their families are able to provide for them. Though I know, there are really those people who want to work even if they really don't need to. Because some feel more weak if they just stay at home and rest. But they must work according to what they still can do and not force themselves to do what they are not supposed to do.
I hope that more people will be concerned of the welfare of our elders. They are supposed to be enjoying the few years left for them. And those who are still capable to work, why don't you find something more productive to do? I f there is a will, there is a way. If you really want to do something, there are many reasons to do so. But if you don't want to succeed in your life you will have a lot of excuses.
To the lolo's and lola's and those physically-challenged people, I salute you all! I hope that you will be inspiration to other people.
