With two albums released and having her entire family around, singer Samina Chowdhury had one of the best Eids in years. 
She had a conversation with Prothom alo about her Eid experience and her new releases.
How was your Eid?
In a word, amazing! My younger sister Antara came back from US with my nephew. After 10 -12 years, the entire family got together to celebrate Eid. An added bonus was my brother Pancham’s newborn daughter Amira. Her arrival multiplied the joy of my family.
Did you hang out with your family?
Yes, we did. We spent the Eid morning at my house, and went o my sister Numa’s (Singer Fahmida Nabi) house in the evening. In between, we visited some family and friends' place as well. To top it all, my mother cooked for us. No matter how much we try, we could never measure up to her cooking.
Did you have any time to catch up with the Eid programmes?
Yes, I watched a few dramas and some live music programmes. I think some changes should be made in these live music shows.
What kind of changes?
From sound system to lighting and stage designing - everything is important to make a live show successful. If it’s a compact show with all the minor details taken care of, viewers will enjoy it more.
You had one duet and a mixed album released in this Eid. What kind of response you are getting?
In this age of competition, it’s hard to reach the audience with your creation. Thankfully, I never had to work much to promote my works, listeners always received my works very positively. My duet album with Indian singer Raghab Chattarjee titled Ekta Bondhu Chai was released a few days before Eid. I have received many emails and Facebook posts praising the album. Many fans are commenting on Facebook about their favourite songs from this album.
Do you have any new project lined up?
There are so many things lined up, so I’m taking one at a time. However, I’m thinking about honouring some legendary singers of the past generation with a tribute album. Ten timeless songs of 10 singers, including Anjuman Ara Begum, Hasina Mamtaz, Nina Hamid, and Nilufar Yasmin will be there in that album. Hopefully I’ll start working on this project very soon.
