Secret Team managed to win their second title in one week, after a dominant performance against VP.Polar in the grand finals of DotaPit #2. Through their victory, they have earned the $36,500 first place prize, while VP.Polar will have to settle for $16,000.

The second season of DotaPit has just concluded, and Secret Team continue their impressive run in European competitions by adding yet another title to their increasing collection. Puppey's boys faced VP.Polar in the best-of-five grand finals of the tournament, and they displayed a solid performance against the upcoming CIS squad. While VP.Polar came close to winning the first game of the series, they were eventually overpowered by Secret and failed to find the victory to prevent the demeaning 3-0 result.

VP.Polar vs Secret Team

Game One

 

 

VP.Polar deployed a deathball-style strategy based on early domination and quick tower demolition, while Secret used a lineup with heavy physical damage built around the Drow Ranger-Vengeful Spirit duo. Using the early advantage of their lineup, the CIS squad managed to secure a solid 12-kill lead, and they even came close to destroying the Radiant's middle barracks by minute 27. However, Secret's continuous high-ground defense proved very effective, and VP.Polar could not finish the game. The consecutive successful teamfights allowed Secret's cores to get the necessary farm to turn the tides of the game, and they even managed to win a 4-0 teamfight during the 47th minute and destroy the middle and top barracks of VP.Polar. Knowing that every minute that passed worked against their benefit, VP.Polar attempted to seal the deal by minute 53 with an all-in push through the bottom lane, but Secret managed to win yet another 4-0 teamfight and counter-push themselves. With 3/5 heroes dead for the Dire side, VP.Polar lacked the manpower to stop the wrecking ball called Drow Ranger, and the Ancient fell before they could react. 

Game Two

 

 

Secret Team decided to use a rather original teamfight lineup, with the unusual Juggernaut offlane for MiSeRy and the Puck-Lycan duo for s4 and KuroKy. VP.Polar responded with a spell-damage based line-up with core Beastmaster, Venomancer and Slark. Several very successful rotations by s4 and the supports allowed Secret to gain control of the game rather early, and it would seem that VP.Polar's draft lacked the necessary control for Lycan and Juggernaut. While Illidan's Slark managed to corner s4's Puck a couple of times, both MiSeRy and KuroKy were allowed to farm and wreak havoc in teamfights using their ultimates. VP.Polar's sloppy engagements made matters worse for the CIS team, who could only observe Secret's continuous race against their base - a raid that concluded with 30-minute Mega Creeps for Puppey's boys.

Game Three

 

 

In the third (and eventually final) game of the series, Secret Team chose to go old-school and deploy the Naga Siren - Shadow Fiend combination, along with s4's old friend Batrider. VP.Polar also gave us a taste of The International 2, with a support/jungler Lycan selection for FNG and solo mid Templar Assassin for DkPhobos. Knowing that Shadow Fiend is rather fragile during the early stages of the game, Secret decided to apply their pressure at the bottom lane, effectively redirecting VP.Polar's focus away from KuroKy. The strategy proved very efficient, as KuroKy, s4 and MiSeRy were allowed to grab their mobility items (Blink Dagger/Shadow Blade) rather quickly, enabling the proper execution of their spell combos. Abusing their teamfight advantage, Secret came close to destroying VP.Polar's middle barracks by minute 30, but the Radiant's valiant defense was enough to fend them off. The unsuccessful siege delayed the game significantly, as it forced the Dire to wait for Assault Cuirass and Satanic for KuroKy and MiSeRy respectively before they attack again. Nevertheless, the final push by minute 41 went just as planned, and Secret crushed VP.Polar inside the Radiant base, resulting in a teamwipe and the GG call by Illidan's gang.
