I love crowdfunding and that's no secret. I think it's a fantastic paradigm for plenty of different mediums whether it be film, video games, comics, etc.
There is one that I have been following for a while now that was funded on Kickstarter a while back. Unfortunately at the time of its campaign I was not in the position to contribute, however I was able to keep tabs on the project via social media. This film is a documentary called Showrunners: The Art of Running a TV Show. As someone who's dream it is to be a showrunner my interest was more that peaked. Showrunners are generally a show's Head Writer/Executive Producer/Creator.
The documentary features fantastic interviews with such people as Joss Whedon, Ronald D Moore, Jane Espenson, and more. The filmmakers recently put out a new teaser through iTunes which announces the release date as October 31st of this year. I am SUPER EXCITED.
In the storm of excellent press for this movie there is also a companion book with the same title. I have not finished it yet but I highly reccommend purchasing it.
