Movie Description
One of Walt Disney's all-time classics is Sleeping Beauty, the animated musical fantasy adapted from several sources, including The Brothers Grimm Little Briar Rose from their landmark 1812 collection. Disney's version is the sixteenth release in the legendary Walt Disney Animated Classics series.
All of the familiar elements of the classic fairy tale are present, from the celebrated royal birth of Princess Aurora, the bestowing of gifts by the three good fairies, the curse of the evil fairy Maleficent, Aurora's less than regal adolescence and of course the handsome and love-smitten young Prince Phillip whose kiss is the only antidote to the tragic sleeping curse cast by the vindictive Maleficent.
Sleeping Beauty is a notable and remarkable achievement in film animation, being one of the earliest of the genre developed for wide-screen viewing. The film's musical score is also thrilling and dramatic, adapting much of its' arrangement from the same-titled ballet from Tchaikovsky.
