Social Anxiety disorder is a psychological disease which affects its patients a great deal of trouble and difficulty in their life. It is caused by the fear and anxiety a person feels when undergoes a social situation. Such people do not feel confident in public and often act awkwardly when meet others or face a crowd. They feel embarrassed about themselves and tend to avoid public exposure of themselves. In this way they become confined to themselves only and these people are usually lonely.
Social Anxiety, in most cases, is developed in a patient in childhood. Some incidents which may have embarrassed them at some occasions or behavior of other people towards their clumsiness render them to shyness and timidity, which finally turns into Social Anxiety Disorder.
According to some doctors, social anxiety may also be in genes. It means if a person has this disorder, it is likely that he inherited it from his father.
A socially anxious person has many challenges to face. He always thinks that people’s attention is towards him all the time in a gathering or a social event. He thinks that he is judged by them in every aspect, so he tries to avoid such occasions and usually does not attend parties and presentations or other type of gatherings where he thinks he may be center of attention among people.
So this type of behavior is very discouraging for them and they never thrive in society. Their abilities and talents remain hidden because they are very afraid to exhibit their qualities in public and they never show their talents to others as they think it may lead to a great deal of embarrassment and anxiety. That is why socially anxious persons cannot talk to strangers or authority figures and are not good at making friends.
So these types of people never become a regular part of society and stay lonely and separate from the world. They cannot perform confidently at work and rarely have friends. But fortunately this is a curable disease and a person affected by social anxiety disorder can get cured and be normal as others by getting treatment and therapies from a psychiatrist. Mostly it is cured by therapies like engaging in social events and gatherings and talking to strangers.
After proper cure by therapist or psychiatrist, a person can lead a perfectly normal life as any other normal person.
