There are a variety of opinions regarding womens position in the society. While islam appears to give women many rights, the social world in reality is often very different.
Women in some muslim countries/ societies do not have the safety or freedom of movement enjoyed by other women in the world. Most muslim women in the western countries i.e. Great Britain / America are free to chose a public or private life. Many of them have progressed in education & the work place, while some have chosen a more domestic role such as being a housewife.
Muslim societies like many other societies throughout the world are very partial, meaning they are run mainly by men leaving the muslim movement to be quite restricted.
For example in Saudia Arabia women are banned from driving the car, & they are also restricted from leaving their home without the company of a male relative.
This movement is nowhere stated anywhere in the shariah, but it actualy just goes against the prophets (sws) teachings. In some parts of the country, schools are closed not allowing any female to excell in life & gain a good education. This act again goes against the teachings of our prophet (sws) .
Seeking knowledge should be compulsory for men & women. These rights are taken away from women causing a huge malpractise that just oppresses the women.
Yes there are certain acts that women cannot do such as leading the jammat in prayer. If it is a mixed atmosphere, then only a male can lead.
If it is all women atmosphere then yes she can lead the prayer.....but stricktly females only.
