Society: Western Vs Islamic Concept

Posted on at

The West views all life's affairs from a superficial standpoint. It is to be expected, therefore, that the Capitalists' view of society is also superficial. They consider society to be merely a group of individuals, as Margaret Thatcher once said, "Society is merely composed of individuals and family."

Throughout the period of decline of the Muslim Ummah, reformers and movements have arisen to rectify this situation. They have tried to change society. Unfortunately, many have adopted the Capitalistic view; that is, society is composed purely of a group of individuals. Thus, in an attempt to improve the condition of Muslims they proceed to change individuals in the hope that if a large number of people become Muslim or start to join their activities, then our situation would be bettered.

The Islamic understanding of society is that it is composed of individuals, as well as the further elements that determine the relationships between the individuals, and these are:
A) The predominant thoughts and emotions that the people carry.
B) The prevailing governing system (government).

These form common bonds between individuals. These common bonds are manifested as common thoughts and common emotions which shape the attitude of individuals in all aspects of life, including the criteria for their actions...

Now when THEY say Islam has nothing to do with the government infrastructure or state affairs, THEY say so because their concept of society is defined from the Capitalistic definition of society. If we really want to save our societies we must strive for the Islamic revival. May Allah swt saves us from this deceptive fitna and keep us on the Islamic track. Ameen.
