System software O Consists of the operating system and utility programs that control a computer system and allow to use the computer. O These programs enable the computer to boot, to launch application programs, and to facilitate important jobs. O Helps in: O transferring files from one storage medium to another. O configuring your computer to work with the hardware connected to it. O managing files on your hard drive, and protecting your computer system from unauthorized use.
Application software O Includes all the programs that allow to perform specific tasks on computer. O Examples are: O writing a letter. O preparing an invoice. O viewing a Web page. O listening to a music file. O playing a game. O preparing financial statements, and so forth.
