SOLUTIONS OF WATER CRISIS IN PAKISTAN(may be added where necessary)````````````````````````` Building of additional reservoirs.It is a proved fact that all present developed water resources are inadequate to meet the present as well as future water requirement for agriculture, rising population and socioeconomic demands of our country.In order to meet the present as well as future demand of country there is an immediate need to develop new resources water storage capacity of Existing reservoirs.The storage capacity of existing reservoirs at mangla and tarbela has already reduced by 22% and is further reducing due to silting.This has posed a grave challenge to already depleting water resources of the country.There is an immediate need to address this issue by developing new water resources and conserving present storage capacity by du-silting process without any further wastage of time as planned in water vision 2050.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Lining of canals distribuataries and Minors.Our earthen canals distribuaries and water courses are pervious in nature seepage through which causes a great loss of water.about 6% is lost due to this seepage.It is therefore important to line the canals distributaries and minors under a viable programme at the national level.This will improve irrigation water supply to the existing users.                                Lack of coordination amongst departments.Lack of coordination between departments at provincial and federal level has been a stumbling block in the past for successful and effective implementation of various strategies and projects in the water sector.institutional reforms for better co-ordination and management should be undertaken.Promoting public awareness about water issues and role of media.Various government departments such as WAPDA provincial public health departments ministry of health and ministry of water & power can jointly or individually prepare the awareness programmes and launch the camaign through radio television websites newspapers information centres newsletters posters and trade fairs etc.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Strengthening of IRSA.The irsa must be futher strengthened as a federal body,it  should be given greate power and its decision be considered as mandatory.
