Forget about the visuals or graphics for now. The title of blog is self explanatory and we won't be needing any graphical representation. So as the title say, I will write down the common mistakes people do while writing.
Noun & Verb Mix Up
There are some words that are commonly mixed with each other. They sound similar but there lies a technical difference between them that most people ignore.
For Example
Advise/Advice
Advise: It is verb and it can be used as, I would like to advise you on this matter.
Advice: It is a noun and can be used like, May I have your advice on this matter?
Affect/Effect
Affect: It is a noun and should be used like for example, How it will affect our environment?
Effect: It is a noun and can be used as such, What are the effects of globalization on our life?
Wrong Use of Apostrophe
Like Its and It's. There is a huge difference between the two. The former is used to depict any possession while the latter one is the shorter form of It is.
Comparison Dillema
We recklessly use these words, then and than, as such they carry same meaning. Which is again not the case. Than is used for comparison while then is used for narrating or explainining a scenario.
Homonyms Mistakes
There are words that are pronounced quite similar to each other but they carry different meanings. The list of such words is very long but I will mention only 2-3 words here.
Right/Write
Right: It is one of 4 directions. Such as left, right, up, down. Also, it can be used as an opposite to wrong.
Write: To put something in a textual form. Such as writing a story, writing a letter.
Whether/Weather
Whether: It is kind of a helping verb for making a sentence.
Weather: It is used to describe the climatic situation. Like summer, winter, hot, cold, pleasant.
Hopefully I have given you guys some food for thought. There are many other mistakes that we commit unkowingly while we write other than the typos and short words we use in chat.
It will be great if you buzz and share this post with your friends.
