Our moon is the natural satellite of our earth. There are more than 96 moons in our solar system,it is one of them. Many planet has more than 2 moon, but our earth has only one moon. There are two types of satellites, artificial satellite and natural satellite.Moon is a natural satellite.Artificial satellite have many uses like communications, they also are use to monitor the weather, through satellite earth can easily be observe, and they are also use to explore the solar system.
Our moon is very much dry,and there is a lot of dust and rocks on it.There is no atmosphere on the moon. The moon completes one round around the earth in 27 days and 8 hours. The rotation of moon is synchronous with the earth. The moon is 384,000 km away from the earth. The diameter of the moon is 3,476 km and circumference is 10,864 km.The mass of the moon is 1/81 of the earth’s mass.If we consider the gravity of earth 100%,the moon only has 17 percent of gravity.
Our moon has the temperature of 265 F at the daytime and at night it is -310F.Because of no atmosphere, the sky always look dark on the moon. There can be no sound transmission on the moon.Moon has large number of craters on it.Craters are caused by asteroids, meteors and comets.Neil Armstrong was the first person who landed on moon on July 1969.
Many scientists worked on the question,How the moon was formed???.Most of scientist think that moon was the part of our earth 60 millions years ago, then a giant-sized object collided with the earth, some material of earth was ejected from its atmosphere, this material gathered up forming moon.then this moon came in the orbit of earth and started revolving around it.This is determined by the rocks present on the moon.
The Sun and moon very rarely line up,this is said to be lunar eclispse.Lunar eclipse take place three times every year. There are three types of lunar eclipse, Penumbral lunar eclipse, Partial lunar eclipse , Total lunar eclipse. In completing a cycle around the earth, the moon has four major shapes.New Moon,First quarter, third quarter and the full moon.
