With sadness Bouncer Chronicles reports ESPN anchor Stuart Scott, 49, succumbed to a long bout with cancer. The "Sports Center" anchor was given a sendoff befitting a hero by the many friends he made over his 20 years on the air for ESPN because to many of us that is what he was. In the mid 1990's I had the pleasure to work with Stuart on a new show on ESPN2 called "Sportsnight." It was a 3 hour sports and news show that was co-hosted by Suzie Colber. I worked with Scott every day for almost 2 and a half years. He was a true gentleman and professional . He did not care what your job was on the show because he treated everybody with the same respect. Although we both moved on from that show he left a lasting impression of what a great guy he was. He lived his life for his 2 daughters, Taelor and Sydni.
At the ESPY Awards last April Stuart said "The best thing I've ever done and the best thing I will ever do is be a dad to Taelor and Sydni. I can't ever give up because I can't leave my daughters. I love you girls more than I will ever be able to express. You are my heartbeat. I am standing on this stage tonight because of you."
Rest in peace my brother, rest in peace.
