Cell phone giant Sprint is finding itself some more trouble. They announced they will be laying off 2,000 employees. The carrier is by far the slowest in 4G speeds compared to the other three and have lost 272,000 customers in the recent quarter.
Sprint has been struggling to compete largely due to its service. Last year the wireless carrier was rated the worst by Consumer Reports.
Earlier this year, a merger deal with T-Mobile fell apart. Even though Sprint abandoned ship, T-Mobile still got something from them when they decided they'd go forward. Sprint gave up when it became a struggle with government regulators. AT&t was blocked from acquiring T-Mobile previously under antitrust laws, avoiding the industry becoming closer to a monopoly.
Where Sprint will go from here is to be seen but if they don't keep up with the other three they're bound to lose more.
