On 17th June in Sarajevo, Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina presented interactive web site www.srebrenica-mappinggenocide.com, a universal online educational model. The website is available both in English and Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian languages. It offers access to hundreds of most relevant sources that have been used in making the chronological presentation of genocide in Srebrenica (the period of 6th to 19th July 1995.). The purpose of this project is to introduce this new model as an universal education tool in understanding and interpreting the mechanisms of genocide, its causes and phases of the process. „With the launching of this web site we have become a part of an alternative educational world map, and we are delighted for it!” said Suada Kapić, the author of the project. She added: “The most significant value of this web site is its availability to all interested stakeholders as well as its potential to offer an overview of causes and consequences of genocide in Srebrenica through verified documents and sources.” During the past year, the Project “Srebrenica – Mapping Genocide” has been promoted in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, and is still being promoted among regional academic community. “Youth Initiative for Human Rights in BiH will continue to work on knowledge expansion among youth, with a goal to introduce this material as a part of curricula of formal education systems, which is crucial as the Srebrenica genocide is still being denied.”, said Alma Mašić, director of YIHR BIH. „Srebrenica – Mapping Genocide“ in the form of documentary animation presents the chronology of events between 6th and 19th July 1995 in Srebrenica. The whole material lasts 220 minutes and it is divided in 17 maps which you can see at www.srebrenica-mappinggenocide.com POST thanks to Lara Nettelfield & Luna Kalas Luna Kalas Capacity Building Coordinator Youth Initiative for Human Rights BiH Mula Mustafe Bašeskije 8/4, Sarajevo tel/fax +387 33 219 047 luna@yihr.org yihr.posterous.com Facebook: Yihr Bih Twitter: YIHRBIH
