More than 24 hours have already passed; still the fate of the missing Air Asia jet carrying 162 people is uncertain. No sign of any wreckage has yet been found. Meanwhile, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia have joined the search-and-rescue operation. The air craft was last located on the Java Sea near the island of Belitung, between the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. So, at present the search is being conducted in a 100-mile stretch of the Java Sea over the plane's last known location. A section of Experts claim that the aircraft may be at the bottom of the sea but unfortunately Indonesia lacks adequate equipment to conduct an underwater search.
