Sun Watch UPDATES :)

Solar update!!

Good evening/morning folks,

I was away from the computer today so my apologies for the lack of posting today. A quick look at our star and the activity that has occurred.

Big region 2192, now fully in view off the southeast limb, produced a long duration M1.6 solar flare peaking at 07:58 UTC. Updated coronagraph by LASCO C2 indicates that a noteworthy coronal mass ejection (CME) was not associated with this event. The active region remains magnetically complex and could produce additional M-Class solar flares. There is also currently a small chance for an isolated X-Class event. The other visible regions, 2186 and 2187, were each stable during the past day.
New region 2192 continues to crackle this evening with minor C-Flares, including a C6.7 observed at 20:06 UTC and just recently a C5.72. Stronger flares will remain an ongoing possibility.

Ron Cottrell in Arizona shares with us this new image he captured today showing region 2192, along with various filaments (dark lines across surface) and prominences off the limb.
