Suspect Gbagbo in Hague Custody, by Ambassador mo

Laurent Gbagbo, former Ivory Coast President, was indicted and rapidly transferred to the ICC (International Criminal Court) in The Hague. The grave violations of international humanitarian law alleged are linked to the post election violence orchestrated by Gbagbo in order to hold onto power after he was declared loser. See: - ---“Killings & UN Security Council Sanctions” diplomaticallyincorrect.org/films/movie/killingssanctions-ivory-coast-un-security-council/25918 The alleged “crimes against humanity” included incitement of ethnic and religious conflict in a country already shaken by previous violence along tribal and/or sectarian lines. Further Gbagbo perhaps others, brought in militia and mercenaries who committed some of the most vicious crimes - instances of massacres and indiscriminate killing were recorded by independent observers. See: -“Ivory Coast-Mass Killings & Retaliation” diplomaticallyincorrect.org/films/movie/mass-killingsretaliation-ivory-coast/26143 Other indictments from the ICC may be forthcoming as well investigations: The ICC is cited ominously: “Ivorian victims will see justice for massive crimes: Mr. Gbagbo is the first to be brought to account, there is more to come” . It is I believe most wise and legally appropriate that the process be pursued in the context of the relatively non-politicized venue of the ICC in The Hague as compared to the still tense and divided political climate of the Ivory Coast – now around a decade of civil conflict.
