Threats:
Un-favorable response from other research institutes.
Low rate of response and adoption of modern ways of farming.
Leak of concentration from government, nevertheless agriculture shares the GDP by 21%.
Due to the unstable political and economic condition of country, agriculture research facing leak of concentration from government. Agriculture research provides the foundation to overall agriculture industry of the country, low rate of concentration will results in decrease in country’s GDP.
Low rate of education in farmers prevent them to adopt the modern ways of farming, which is must necessary to increase their per yield productivity. This low response is also causing low rate of income generation and affects the overall economic conditions.
Less response has been observed among research institutes in the country. This is very necessary to take advantage of other research institute experiments.
3: Suggestions and Recommendations:
Following are the suggestions and recommendations for ARS Kohat.
1. The ARS Kohat should suggest to government to provide extra fund for purchase of new and modern agriculture equipments, to increase the facilitation of crop experiments at ARS Kohat.
2. The ARS Kohat should keep strong relation with agriculture universities and national research institutes, to create a chain of exchanging of information.
3. The ARS should arrange more field days and seminars to inform the local farmers, local and national NGO’s, to increase the crops productivity and informing local and national NGO’s will result in granting of funds to start new agriculture projects and carryon current experiments.
4. The ARS Kohat should start non-seasonal fruit experiments and non-traditional way of off season vegetables. This will result in increase the farmer income. This way of farming will result in increase in per capita income and will put some enhancing effect on economy of country.
5. The ARS Kohat should suggest and submit agriculture projects to ADP (Annual Developmental Fund).
6. The ARS Kohat should suggest to government to increase the annual budget of station, which will increase the productivity of ongoing experiments and enough amount will be available to initiate new experiments.
7. As agriculture industry has big part in Pakistan GDP, therefore Government should make investors favored polices, to increase the private investment in agriculture industry. This will ultimately benefit the whole economy of Pakistan.
