Tamim Iqbal has become Bangladesh’s all-time leading run-getter in Test cricket during the one-off Test against India in Fatullah. Tamim now has 3039 runs altogether to his name in the longest format of the game.
On his way to becoming second to none, Tamim has surpassed Bangladesh’s former skipper Habibul Bashar Sumon’s tally of 3027 Test runs.
However, Tamim’s party in the middle didn’t last long as Ashwin sent Tamim back to the pavilion for only 19 immediately after the batsman became the highest run getter of Bangladesh in Test cricket.
The swashbuckling southpaw bastman has so far played 39 matches for the Tigers. Apart from being the highest Test scorer for his country, the 26-year-old batsman is the highest run-getter in the one-dayers as well. Most centuries for Bangladesh in both Tests and ODIs along with highest individual innings of Tests and ODIs also belong to him.
International Cricket Council (ICC) has congratulated the Tiger batsman on becoming Bangladesh’s all-time leading run scorer in Test cricket through their official Facebook page.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s one-down batsman Mominul Haque is on course to join AB de Villiers if he makes a fifty in this Test. Mominul has got fifties in his last 11 consecutive Tests. However, the play is stopped at the moment as rain has hit Fatullah once again to play the spoilsport.
