The reason for the ban on carrying more electronics during flights are tests that terrorists would carry with hiding explosives in batteries and battery holders. They would like to bring it among other laptops.
Information obtained in recent weeks, would indicate that Al Qaeda experimented with integrating explosives in electronics, reported CNN. The terrorists would focus on commercial flights and include battery compartments to provide laptops bombs.
It would not be the first time such as laptops are used for bombs. In February last year a bomb exploded in a laptop aboard a flight from Somalia. The bomb hit a hole in the hull but only the perpetrator was killed. It is not known how the laptop passed the security check.
The information on the battery bombs do the US and the UK decision to impose a ban on carrying more electronics than mobile phones in the cabin of aircraft. The ban applies to flights to the US from a dozen airports in eight countries.
