The 90's Era (Cartoon Network) - A Trip Down To The Memory Lane

You know you're a 90's kid when grew up watching and you can still vivdly remember the cartoons like Tom & Jerry, Richie Rich, Ed Edd n Eddy, Codename: Kids Next Door etc. The irony is most of these cartoons are forgotten now. 90's kids have enjoyed some of the best series that kids these days doesn't even have a single clue about. That was the time! Mornings or evenings, you get to watch your favorite cartoons all the time.
Cartoons were one of the favorite things in our childhood. Even as adults, we have not had enough of some cartoons because they're so entertaining and surely, we have developed a special connection with them over the years.

Today my little niece persuaded me to come and watch cartoons with her. I was shocked to learn that how much my favorite channel Cartoon Network has changed over the years. Old cartoons (cartoons of my days, the amazing cartoons of 90's and early 20's) are almost replaced by some stupid new cartoons now. Do you know what would be the perfect way to torture a prisoner? Confine him in a room and force him to watch the new Cartoon Network all day long! It wasn't always like this, you know. The channel used to air some gems enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Can you believe, most of the time, I was in front of TV but still scored good in my exams, so my parents never had to worry about me. I hated going to school though I was good at studies. It was great fun staying home watching something, reading some book, painting I want to be a child again, ignorant of everything. Kids these days don't know what old Cartoon Network was like, how amazing cartoons we used to have that time. *Sighs*

I used to come back from school to home and the first thing I'd do is to jump on the couch and tune into Cartoon Network. I miss those good old days now.They were not just cartoons . They taught me a lot of things, a lot of lessons.

There was Dexter, the boy genius who taught us that size does not matter when you have the whit and the brains to prove things otherwise.

Johnny Bravo might have had more brawns and less brains but he taught us how to always stay awesome, even if it’s a “NO!”
We loved this series about an obnoxious muscled man (boy?), whose life revolves around getting woman to like him. It's too bad that women always find him offensive. The poor guy gets beaten up or tazed by the opposite sex all the time. Oh Johnny, come back!

There were the Power Rangers who despite all the fights they had, taught us that with persistent team work and effort, we could save the world!
There were Samurai Jacks and Spirits who taught us that no matter where you were in life, you could always find a way home.

There were the Power Puff Girls who taught us that we’ve all got our lots of evil to fight and that girls could just as easily ‘save the day’ as their male counterparts.
Professor Utonium, in attempts to create perfect little girls, mixes sugar, spice and everything nice, but accidentally spills chemical x in to the concoction. A chain reaction occurs and 3 girls with superpowers are created. Add to that the ever-lovable Mojo Jojo, and you've got a show that will be remembered for a long, long time.

Who can forget that monumental bond between Ash and Pikachu which taught us that family is not only about blood but by the love and the adventures you have in travelling together.

Scooby Doo taught us that it was okay to be scared of the monsters that lurk in our closets and underneath our beds. He also taught us that sometimes, the real monsters weren’t monsters at all, but ordinary people.
Tom and Jerry taught us that despite all their fights, at the end of the day they couldn't live without each other.

I yearn for the Iron Giant that made us all cry as kids and taught us that it isn't about what you look like on the outside that matters but what really matters and what makes you a true hero is how you choose to live your life for others.

Lilo and Stitch personified the true bonds of family- that despite the differences the world create between them, family never gives up on you. ( By the way, Lilo and Stitch is the cartoon of Disney. Since we are mainly talking about cartoons here and it was one of my MOST favorite cartoons, I couldn't resist mentioning it)
Ed, Edd n Eddy might have been the weird lot but maybe that was their lesson, that being a little weird is okay. And that with any luck you’ll find others like you who share your level of crazy, who will make the ordinary moments in life seem like adventures.

Perhaps, the Kids Next Door were right all along.
They taught us perhaps, the most important lesson of them all - to never lose the ‘kid’ that lives inside us all. We fought hard to become Number 1 but I guess most of us lost ‘ourselves’ in the vicissitudes in life that we’ve had to overcome.
Maybe growing up was the ultimate punishment!
