Near the former junction of the TATEKAWA and YOKOKAWA rivers in mid century stood a bell regularly rung to announce the hours for the Honjo and Fukagawa neighborhoods .
Three nearby bridges are KITATSUJI , MINAMITSUJI , and SHINTSUJI were called the SHUMOKU bridges after the wooden hammer ( Shumoku ) used to strike the bell .
They were dismantled in 1988 .
