It was a dark and windy night and a man was riding his small boat up a river. 
The sky was covered by dark clouds and only the oil lamp hanging by the 
front of the boat lighted his way.

Suddenly, the boat was jolted by a strong gust of wind. The lamp tilted so 
steeply that much of its oil spilled into the water. Only a small amount of oil 
was left, just enough for him to complete his journey.

The light quickly died and the man could barely see in front of him. The wick 
inside the lamp was too short and hang above the remaining oil. Without  
light he could not complete his journey.

The man could do nothing with the wick. Other than the match in his pocket,
he had nothing else with him. When he tilted the lamp, the oil would not 
reach the wick, besides the lamp had to stay upright.

After mulling over his predicament, the man came up with an idea. Soon his 
oil lamp was lighted again and he continued on with his journey.
