On December 15th 1966 Walter Elias "Walt" Disney died.

Walt Disney is best known for the media company he co-founded with his brother Roy, The Walt Disney Company, the second largest broadcasting and media company in the world today when taken by revenue.

Walt created or helped create many fictional characters still known today, with the most famous probably being Mickey Mouse. These characters featured in animated cartoons and films. He also developed resorts and theme parks, starting with Disneyland, but his biggest theme park concept was one he developed in 1965, Disney World and the EPCOT centre. Disney died before Walt Disney World opened in 1971, and before construction even began.
