On Saturday night, lions, tigers, bears and other carnivorous animals were found roaming the streets in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, after catastrophic flooding that destroyed the enclosures of the main zoo. As a result, residents were warned to stay indoors. It was however not immediately clear how many animals were on the loose and how many of them had been killed in the floods. Of the zoo's 600 residents, including fish and birds, about half were missing. Some animals have been recaptured. Others have been killed.
The Georgian capital, Tbilisi, became the city of wild animals.
