The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the shortlist for the Visual Effects Oscar race. It has now been narrowed down to 10 contenders. Sorry "Looper," "The Hunger Games," "Men in Black III," "The Impossible," and "Flight."
Members of the Visual Effects Branch will be asked to see 10-minute excerpts of each of the 10 shortlisted films below on Thursday, January 3. Then, they will vote to nominate five films for the final Oscar consideration. The nominees for the 85th Academy Awards will be announced live on Thursday, January 10 at 5:30 a.m.
And the chosen 10 movies for Visual Effects are:
