In one of the gravest train accidents in the history of the Indian Railways, over 100 people were killed and many others injured when 14 coaches of the Indore-Patna express train derailed near Pukhrayan area in Kanpur Dehat district. Most of the injured people have been rushed to nearby hospitals and if necessary, they will be air lifted to other hospitals with better facilities. It is reported that the casualties may go up. Accident relief train was rushed to the spot. After the accident, several trains scheduled to take the same route have now been diverted. The cause behind is suspected rail fracture. But the government of India has ordered a thorough probe into the tragic incident.
