A lot changes with age. Some good & some bad. As a kid I loved playing in the rain! It was fun to wear my raincoat & boots out & jump in all the puddles to see how big of a splash I could make. When it rained a lot, it would sometimes flood the yards in our neighborhood. My friends & I loved to "swim" in the flooded yards. It really wasn't extremely deep, but we were able to wade around in it - it had some depth to it! Worms, mud, & pollution of all sorts too I'm sure. Honestly, I kinda get the creepy crawly feeling now, when thinking about just what all could have been in that flooded water. Eeeewww! :p
Rainy, gloomy days don't make me want to rush out and play in a puddle, or dance in the rain. I instead prefer the comfort of the inside of my home. That's right! I like to curl up on the couch with a nice, big bowl of warm popcorn & movie or two. Forget about housework, yard work, turn the phone off --- just relax!
Life gets so busy with work, family, all the extra school events for the kids. Sometimes it's nice to just take a "breather". Chill with the remote, some netflix maybe. No need to make a rush of everything. If the laundry doesn't get done today, it won't run off. It will be there to greet you the next day.
So, though I sometimes miss the simplicity of childhood; I feel I can get pretty darn close to that same simple feeling on a lazy, rainy day.
