On December 30th 1916 Grigori Rasputin was murdered.
Grigori Rasputin, known commonly simply as Rasputin, was a faith healer and advisor to the Romanovs, the Tsars of Russia, partly due to his helping Nicholas II's son Alexi, and was a favourite of the Tsarina. The boyars of Russia disliked the amount of influence he had over the royal family, and arranged his murder.
The actual murder of Rasputin has become legend, with few definite facts known for certain. Allegedly, he was poisoned with cyanide, which failed, shot and then thrown into the river.
