We One Piece fans have seen this logo countless times, it’s made a mark in our lives. But have we ever thought of it as more than a logo? Have we looked at it as a subtle message from Oda Sensei?
"It’s More Than A Logo, It’s A Message"
Those who have followed One Piece for a while know that it’s unlike any other manga out there, One Piece isn’t just about fights and cool moments, but the story is deep, interconnected and planned. Things that are revealed at the early stages play an important role deeper into the story. Lot’s of research is done by Oda to give us, the readers, an awesome experience.
So would the logo just be a simple logo? Would Oda be smart enough to hide a subtle message into it? Here’s what I have to say;
The Beginning: the beginning of the journey is indicated by the “rope” which rises towards the Straw Hat’s Jolly Roger and is then held in the mouth of the skull. At this stage (in the mouth of the skull) it indicates that the Straw Hat pirates are formed and they begin their journey in grand line.
The Up’s and Down’s: the rope then follows a pattern of going up and down, like a wave. This can signify two things:
1. The journey on the ocean, the waves rocking the ship up and down.
2. The troublesome and happy times, signifying the “up’s” and “down’s” of life.
The Red Line: Luffy as the I in “Piece” is colored “red” and signifies the “Red Line.” Signifying that they are now closer to their goal, half-way there!
The Anchor (End): The E is drew as an anchor, and the rope gets tied to it, what does an “anchor” signify for sailors? Halt, end of journey, etc. The anchor marks the end, Raftel, One Piece, the grand treasure.
Any thoughts?
