For those who are not aware of the Nirbhaya case, let me inform that Nirbhaya was the symbolic name of an unfortunate girl in Delhi who was gang raped in a running bus in the capital and was then thrown away from the bus. The girl fought for life but finally succumbed to the injuries. The whole roared in anger and it was expected that such immoral incidents would never occur in the future. But we have been proved wrong. A similar incident has occurred in Punjab on Wednesday night on the Moga-Bhatinda highway, near Moga city. A teen and her mother were going for a visit to a gurudwara in an AC bus when their journey turned into one that's being compared to that of Nirbhaya. It is learnt that when the bus reached a toll plaza about 10 km from Moga city, the assistant bus conductor started sexually assaulting the woman in a largely empty bus with very few passengers. The mother complained to the conductor who instead allegedly sided with his assistant. The woman then asked the driver to stop the bus but the driver responded by further increasing the speed of the vehicle. Fearing that they will be sexually assaulted, the woman and her daughter jumped off the bus. Passersby took them to a nearby hospital. While the 14-year-old girl was declared brought dead, her mother is battling for her life. The driver had abandoned the bus and fled with his accomplices. However, police managed to arrest the driver and the conductor this morning.
