Posted on at

The Shomyo Waterfall (Shomyo-daki; Shomyo Great Falls or just Shomyo Falls) and Hannoki Waterfall (Hannoki-no-taki; Hannoki Falls) comprise the twin towers of waterfalls in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. Shomyo Daki (left) is said to be Japan’s tallest permanent waterfall. Hannoki-no-taki (right) is said to be Japan’s tallest waterfall at a height of 497 m (1,640 feet). However, it only has water from April to July when the snow covering the Midagahara plateau melts. From a statistics standpoint, Shomyo-daki is commonly quoted as having a cumulative height of 350m.
