Social Media Management is one of the many great things I have learned from my freelancing course.  If you love interacting with people, posting or advertising in your social media accounts, then Social Media Management is the right career path for you.  But of course, before you can be successful in this field as a social media manager, you need to have an effective social media campaign plan and make use of the top 10 social media management tools.

Social Media Campaign Plan

A social media campaign plan requires a well-thought-out plan, and your goals should be S.M.A.R.T - specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound. Here are some tips for a successful media campaign plan:

  1. Branding - As a social media manager, you need to recognize how to effectively and efficiently brand yourselves, so the customers will identify who you are and what services do you offer.
  2. Set up and optimize your social media accounts - Set up your social media accounts and make sure to incorporate keywords.  Use a professional profile photo and don't forget to include your email address and contact number.
  3. Increase your connections -  In order to increase your connections, you need to first identify your target market. Engage with them by liking and commenting on their posts, and follow at least 10 people a day.

Top 10 Social Media Management Tools

Social media managers need social media management tools for a lot of reasons. One of these is to handle different social media accounts. Businesses, especially, start-up businesses, often have a lot of social media accounts in order to build their online presence. I have completed a 1-month apprenticeship as a Social Media Manager with Virtual Assistance Consultancy focused on Social Media Management with a perfect rating of 5/5. I was tasked to manage one of their social media accounts (Twitter), and I was able to reach the target before my apprenticeship ended.  Another reason is to schedule posts ahead of time. As an online freelancer, I have to make sure that my online presence is growing each day, and I can keep up with the ever-changing demands of the social media industry. And to make this happen, I have utilized some of the best social media management tools today.

Buffer is one of the best ways to schedule posts on Facebook, Instagram, Google Plus, LinkedIn and Twitter.  You can sign up for free but free membership has restrictions. Only 1 account is allowed per social media platform and just 10 posts each. If you upgrade to the Pro Plan, you will be able to connect up to 8 social media accounts, filter your posts, and schedule 100 posts per social media account.

Hootsuite

Hootsuite is another powerful social media management tool to schedule posts on different social media platforms. You can start with a 30-day trial and upgrade later on. You can upgrade to business, enterprise, professional or team. It really depends on what your business needs. But for now, try the 30-day trial and connect your 3 social media profiles, and schedule up to 30 messages.
