The Washington National Zoo is owned by the Smithsonian Institute and located in downtown Washington DC, USA. The admission is free, but people may join at cost the FONZ (Friends of the National Zoo) which entitles you to mailings, discounts and some events as well as reduced fee and free parking at the zoo park, depending on which program you join

There are a variety of animals at the zoo including my favorite the Giant Panda, elephants, giraffes, bears, lions and tigers, birds and many more. There is also a petting zoo for the children that include farm animals..
