Please take a look at this closeup of a man and his two children. Try to imagine *being* that person. Try to see in your mind's eye, to feel in your own heart and soul, what he's feeling in this moment. Ask yourself if you have ever in your life been *that* lost, *that* afraid as a parent, *that* unsure as to your future and that of your kids.
He's a Syrian, wet, cold, and terrified. He is a *person*, every bit as much as you and I are persons. Every bit.
Think too what you might feel if you were a lost, afraid, unsure, disoriented parent, alone with your kids. How desperate might you be, if that were you?
He likely does not know -- yet -- that the governors of 22 American states would refuse to admit him, in defiance of Federal law. He likely does not know -- yet -- that a potential candidate for the highest office in our country would insist on dehumanizing him, branding him, one way or another, as Not Like Us.
