When I was a teenager I thought that love is just like in the movies. You meet someone, you both fall head over hills and then ...you live happily ever after. It took me a while to stop expecting things like wine and roses and to realise that love was so much more than that. My biggest mistake was to think that I made was to think that falling in love and loving someone deeply is one and the same think. The truth is that after you have spent some time with someone and all the chemicals in your brain start to cool off you begin seeing your partner as he/she is. And this moment you have to make a continuous decision - to give this person your love or to leave them. Yes, I believe that love is a choice.  As Erich Fromm said : “Love is a decision, it is a judgment, it is a promise. If love were only a feeling, there would be no basis for the promise to love each other forever. A feeling comes and it may go. How can I judge that it will stay forever, when my act does not involve judgment and decision.”
