Thunderstorms, Earthquakes, Mini Cyclones in Peshawar and Northern Areas of Pakistan

Posted on at

There were thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in Peshawar, nearby areas and northern regions of Pakistan on 26th April, 2015. Furthermore the after shocks of Nepal earthquake were also experienced all the way in Peshawar. The three way disaster brought thunderstorms, earthquakes and a mini cyclone that left the whole province of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa effected with a great loss within hours.

The weather forecast teams failed to detect the cyclone and warn the people as they were too busy in other things for example; not their jobs. It was sole responsibility of the weather forecasting institutions to have such changes detected as storms and rainfall have been recognized easily by these forecasting teams.

Over a hundred(100) people died shortly after the strike of cyclone and rainfall in Peshawar, Charssadda, Mardan, Nowshehra and rest of the KPK. Most of them were in houses that collapsed, since it was night time and not working hours for majority people. The living victims have severe injuries and fractures that are being treated. Hospitals throughout the province have declared emergency and rescue teams are working extra times to overcome the problem.

Apart from the loss of life, important buildings and houses have collapsed and roads were also effected badly with the strike. With all the disasters and fear, came mismanagement as the provincial government stayed least interested in the lives and conditions of it's people. However, the central government and local leadership took the needed actions. The victims are given enough treatment to keep them alive but the loss of lost ones cannot be replaced.

Only now the forecasting teams predicted that further thunderstorms, earthquakes and heavy rainfall followed by raised level of water in rivers causing floods might be experienced in the already effected areas of Pakistan and other areas of South Asian countries.

May Allah protect us all and save our region from further loss. May we stay safe in peace and harmony and may Allah bless us all. Amen.
