After already winning the three-match series against India for the first time, Bangladesh now hope to see a whitewash when the two sides meet in the third one-day international at Mirpur on Wednesday.
Despite earning a record 3-0 victory over Pakistan just recently, cricket pundits hardly foresaw even a series win against a full-strength India.
Before this series, Bangladesh won only one match in a bilateral ODI series against India, back in 2004.
Then, stunned by the defeat against the home side, India are desperately trying to avoid what is now widely called Banglawash.
Cricketers of the two sides could not hide either the possibility of ‘Banglawash’ - a dream for the home side and a fear for the visitors.
If Bangladesh whitewash India on Wednesday, “the world will sit up and notice”, writes ESPNcricinfo.
If the Tigers win the third ODI, it would be the 11th consecutive victory at home. It would also be Bangladesh’s 11th whitewash.
A possible win for Bangladesh will also mean they will be one short of the record held jointly by Pakistan (2000-03), West Indies (1986-89) and Australia (2003-04).
