Today is the 86th birth anniversary of legendary Kishore Kumar who was born as Abhas Kumar Ganguly on August 4, 1929 at Khandwa of Madhya Pradesh in India. Starting out as a chorus singer and actor after his acclaimed eldest brother Ashok Kumar made it big in Bollywood, Kishore Kumar went to become one of the greatest playback singers in India. He not only did playback for Bollywood songs and some regional cinema ones, but also acted in many Hindi and Bengali films in the lead roles or supporting roles. But all the roles were mainly comical in nature. His first obsession was singing and from the seventies onwards till his death, he was the number one male voice in both Hindi and Bengali films. He was a versatile who had produced and directed films and had also composed the music in some of his own movies.
