Today is Rakhi which is also known as or Raksha Bandhan. In Sanskrit Rakhi literally means the tie or knot of protection. Rakhi is basically a sacred thread of protection embellished with the love and affection of a sister for her brother and is tied by the sister around the wrist of her biological or biologically unrelated brother. The festival celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana in India. The social significance of Rakhi is that it binds the most beautiful relationship in an inseparable bond of love and trust between a sister and her brother.
